Today I am going to make sooji ka halva. This is also called sheera. Sooji it’s a same family from cream of wheat. And you can buy this on in any Indian grocery store. Halva is very important dessert for Hindu culture. Halva is offered to god and goddess before prayers. And after prayer halva is shared with all the devotees. This recipe will make serving for 4. We need 1/2 cup of sooji. 1/4 cup of melted unsalted butter 3/4 cup of sugar 1.5 cups of water Pinch of cardamom powder. So first we are going to make our syrup. And I will put this in microwave for about 5 minutes. I am going to start the heat on medium high. And put the butter. And put sooji. We have to stir fry till it gets golden brown. It should be pretty dark. It will take about 6-8 minutes. I am doing this for about 6 minutes. And you can see it is dark gold brown. And smelling very good. And it’s time to put our simple syrup in it. We are going to put the syrup slowly because otherwise it will splatter. And coming out really good. Add some more water. Looks like I have some sugar left in the bottom I am going to stir this. And we will cook this for about 2-3 minutes. Let’s open the cover and look at it. It looks good we are going to add cardamom seeds. And mix it. It smells very good. When you roast the sooji, smell of the roasted sooji is very good. Now we are ready to serve this. And as it gets cold it will dry up. I like hot. Some people like to serve this cold. Thank you. I hope you will enjoy making this halva. And send me the comments. See you again with new recipe.
